Dear Emmanuella,

My heart is healing and my eyes have dried,

But I still feel pain, hidden deep inside.

Your smile brings joy, but then memories follow.

Memories of the moments I never could swallow.

You taught me some lessons, and they lead to despair.

When I needed you most, you were no longer there.

God gave us an angel, and he knew it too well.

The more time that passed, the more tears that fell

You bettered so many lives, and it’s said but it’s true.

Before your thirteenth birthday, we said goodbye to you.

Your job was complete, and God planned it right.

He took you back home, on a difficult night.

I’ll forever remember the way we used to be

The closest of friends, it seemed meant to be.

You were my best friend, always by my side.

I planned you’d be here, for our life’s bumpy ride.

I’ll live my life for you, because you deserve this, I know.

I’ll live my life for you, and let your presence show.

I know you’re watching us, smiling as bright as the sun.

As hard it was, your duties were done.

You deserve the best, and I expect that’s what you were given.

I’ll be chasing life, believing you’re living.

You’re living above, with the clouds and the stars.

I’d give you a visit, if Heaven wasn’t so far.

I’ll make this the end, but there’s so much to say.

You’ve taught me anytime could be the last day.

Please keep me safe, and protect me with your light.
